Varadero often connects with travelers through stunning images on social media: white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and picture-perfect sunsets.

However, those who visit discover much more in a destination full of cultural, historical, and natural attractions that offer an authentic and profound experience.

Beyond the picture-perfect postcards, Cuba’s most famous beach resort leaves a mark on the hearts of its visitors, who usually leave with the desire to return.

A few weeks ago, TripAdvisor’s ranking was announced, positioning Varadero as the third best beach destination in the Caribbean, competing with 15 other incredible sites. This earned it the right to hold the Travellers’ Choice 2026 Best of the Best seal, awarded to only 10% of attractions worldwide.

The recognition demonstrates that there are places in Cuba that are more than just beautiful scenery.

Varadero, for example, stands out on the Cuban map as a world-renowned destination for its white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. However, this peninsula also offers many other memorable experiences, worthy of creating cherished family memories or a trip with friends.

The best beach and the best entertainment

Josone Park is one of the most beloved spots for visitors and locals alike. Its gardens, lake and restaurants create an ideal setting to relax while enjoying events such as the Varadero Josone Festival.

Nearby is the Varadero Dolphinarium, where encounters with friendly dolphins add a dose of joy and excitement for the whole family. Operating since 1984, the facility offers dolphin shows that, for an extra charge, include the experience of swimming with them. The area also features a children’s play area and a souvenir shop.

In the town center, the Varadero Tower offers exceptional panoramic views of the coast and surrounding hotels, a lookout point that provides Instagram-worthy photos; while the Santa Elvira Church stands out for its modest architecture and welcoming atmosphere.

For those who appreciate history, the Varadero Municipal Museum houses not only revealing collections but also original early 20th-century architecture. On the other hand, adventure and nature lovers will find an archaeological treasure in Ambrosio Cave: pre-Columbian paintings that tell the story of ancient inhabitants and pirates who visited these lands. The nearby mangroves and canals can be explored by speedboat or catamaran.

An essential excursion takes you to Cayo Blanco, with practically untouched beaches ideal for snorkeling and diving in an unparalleled marine ecosystem.

Gastronomy is another highlight of the great travel experience that Varadero offers. Restaurants and hotels offer both international and local options that would convince even the most discerning tourist to return to the island, even just to sample some of the delicacies.

Meanwhile, the Casa del Ron allows you to learn firsthand about the production process of this emblematic drink, accompanied by an exclusive selection of unique Cuban liqueurs.

At night, the Casa de la Música transforms the hours into a party where Cuban rhythms and international sounds intertwine. For Beatles fans, the bar “Mi Casa Beatles” offers a famous live music show under the stars.

Varadero combines dreamy beaches with a variety of cultural, historical and natural attractions that enrich every visit. Many agree that visiting the island and not stopping at this resort, where time seems to slip away more quickly, is like not having set foot on Cuban soil at all.
