One of Santa Clara’s main attractions is the Che Guevara Mausoleum, where the remains of the iconic Argentine-Cuban revolutionary rest. Nearby, Vidal Park is the heart of the city—a lively space where locals and tourists alike enjoy music, art, and Cuban cuisine.

Some places to visit

Che Guevara Mausoleum

An iconic monument dedicated to the revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara, where his remains and those of several comrades-in-arms have rested since 1997. The site includes a museum with exhibits on his life and the Cuban Revolution. The memorial complex is located on Avenida de los Desfiles, very close to the entrance to Santa Clara via the national highway.

Leoncio Vidal Park

The heart of the city, ideal for strolling and enjoying the local atmosphere. Surrounded by historic buildings, cafes, and sculptures, it is a meeting place for both residents and visitors. On July 15, 1999, in commemoration of the 310th anniversary of the founding of Santa Clara, it was declared a National Monument. It is notable for the daily presence of Cuban blackbirds perched on the tree branches, a distinctive feature of the park.

La Caridad Theater

A historic theater inaugurated in 1885, renowned for its neoclassical architecture and as a cultural venue that hosts plays, concerts, and artistic events.

Monument to the Seizure of the Armored Train

This site commemorates the victory of the revolutionary forces led by Che Guevara during the Battle of Santa Clara. It is a place steeped in history and symbolism for Cuba. The monument is located east of Vidal Park, on the road to Camajuaní between La Cruz Bridge and the railroad tracks.

Museum of Decorative Arts

Housing a collection of Cuban and European art objects, including furniture, ceramics, and paintings that reflect different eras and styles.  The museum building is located near what is now Vidal Park in Santa Clara (formerly Plaza Mayor) and stands out as one of the oldest (18th century). It features decorative interiors characteristic of the homes of Cuba’s wealthy classes from the 17th century to the early 20th century.
