The first experiences of the Pet Friendly by Meliá program are already visible on social media. A few days ago, the Meliá Habana Hotel announced the arrival of its canine guests, an experience now joined by the Meliá Las Américas, located in the famous resort town of Varadero.
The hotel’s social media post reads: “Today we joyfully welcomed new guests and their pets. It is a true honor to welcome them to Meliá Las Américas, where hospitality is evident in every detail. Because here, every guest, including our four-legged friends, is part of our extended family.”
The Meliá Habana and the Meliá Las Américas, both 5-star hotels with prime locations, were chosen as the first two resorts in the chain to offer the pet-friendly experience on the island, implementing rigorous certified cleaning protocols and online reservation systems.

The Caribbean embraces pets
Traveling through the Caribbean with pets is becoming increasingly easy, as a wide variety of destinations offer pet-friendly hotels. The selection is extensive and includes options ranging from cozy boutique hotels to luxury resorts.
Among the destinations known for being “pet-friendly” are hotels in countries such as Aruba, the Bahamas, Belize, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
In Aruba, for example, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba Resort stands out as a popular beach resort for families. Their policy is one of the most flexible, allowing up to two pets per room, both dogs and cats, without a strict weight restriction (they are known to accept animals up to 75 pounds).
Also well-known is The Island House in the Bahamas, considered a luxurious and stylish retreat; and the Lazy Parrot Inn in Puerto Rico, a relaxed and bohemian hotel in Rincón, highly rated for its pet-friendly atmosphere.
In St. Lucia, there’s the Sugar Beach A Viceroy Resort, located among the world-famous Piton Needles and in St. Kitts and Nevis, we find the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, located on the island of Nevis, a historic plantation where this luxury beach hotel with great comfort for animals was built.
