The 15th Varadero Gourmet 2025 International Festival presents a cultural offering as exquisite as its dishes: the exhibition “Sabor y Arte X: de XV a XV” (Flavor and Art X: From XV to XV).
This unique initiative establishes a dialogue between the island’s local flavors and the visions of contemporary art.The exhibition brings together 40 artistic pieces that transcend simple illustration.
Each work is a personal and profound interpretation of fundamental recipes of Cuban cuisine, from main dishes and desserts to cocktail innovations.
Curated by Víctor Manuel Quijano Castiñeiras, this project offers a visual reflection on national identity, explored through multiple creative concepts. What began in 2008 as a tribute to the anniversary of the El Aljibe restaurant has grown into a cultural phenomenon with a collection of 240 works.
It has been exhibited in numerous venues, both in Cuba and internationally, including the IBA World Cocktail Championship and prestigious Meliã hotels, events that democratize access to art and blur the lines between galleries and public spaces. As a significant gesture for this edition, founding artist Sándor González Vilar will donate a piece created for the occasion, an act that strengthens collecting and seals the alliance between two pillars of Cuban culture.
The significance of “Sabor y Arte” will soon be documented in the book “El Color de los Sabores” (The Color of Flavors), which chronicles this aesthetic journey.
