Cuba received recognition today for its participation in and contribution to the 30 editions of the FIT International Tourism Fair of Latin America in Buenos Aires, así reported by Prensa Latina news agency.
According to the report, event President Adrián Manzotti and Director General Gonzalo A. Páez visited the Cuban stand to present the award to José Antonio Aguilera, Cuban Tourism Counselor for the Southern Cone. The presentation took place on the third day of FIT—dedicated to industry professionals—following two intense days of general public attendance.
The spacious La Rural fairgrounds in Buenos Aires’ Palermo neighborhood—the event’s historic home since its inception in 1996—hosts over 350 exhibitor stands representing 60 countries, as well as Argentine provinces, hotel chains, airlines, and agencies providing various services to the tourism sector.
Speaking with Prensa Latina, Aguilera stated, “This gesture by the fair’s leadership recognizes Cuba’s continuous presence across all 30 editions of FIT Latin America in Argentina—an effort dedicated to promoting the island’s tourism destinations and products to the Argentine public.”
He added that it also demonstrates the popularity Cuba enjoys among Argentines; the country served as the Guest of Honor in 2022. “We have always been here, showcasing the virtues and attractions of our beautiful island, and for 30 years at this important event, we have worked to update offerings and secure contracts for the destination.” An estimated 43,105 tourism professionals are participating, and organizers accredited a total of 141,296 visitors.
FIT President, Adrián Manzotti, conveyed his hope that Cuba would continue to participate in future events, which the Cuban representative confirmed.
