With the participation of 97 Cubans residing in 16 countries, the Virtual Forum for Cubans Residing Abroad was held today as part of the activities of the 2026 edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba).
The meeting, chaired by Cuban Minister of Tourism Juan Carlos García Granda, and Ana Teresita González Fraga, director general of Consular Affairs and Services for Cubans Residing Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, became a valuable space for the exchange of ideas, proposals and initiatives aimed at the active contribution of the Cuban community residing outside the country to the development of national tourism, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported on social media.
During the forum, participants shared experiences and proposed concrete ways to strengthen ties between the diaspora and the Cuban tourism industry, recognizing the strategic role of these links in promoting the island as a destination.
A call to rediscover Cuba
In her address to fellow Cubans abroad, Ana Teresita González Fraga made a heartfelt call to rediscover the country, to share with loved ones the joy of exploring Cuban cities, enjoying the sun and sea breeze on its coasts, and actively participating in popular festivities.
The Virtual Forum for Cubans Residing Abroad reaffirmed the Cuban government’s commitment to respectful and constructive dialogue with its diaspora, as well as its willingness to integrate their experiences and talents into the challenges and opportunities of the Cuban tourism sector.
FITCuba 2026 continues to develop as the country’s main tourism promotion event, and this year has placed reconnecting with the nation as one of its central themes.
