Cuba welcomes its visitors with hospitality, warmth, and the same level of safety as always

Speaking from Buenos Aires, Cuban Tourism Counselor for the Southern Cone, José Antonio Aguilera, assured Prensa Latina news agency that, “Hotels on the island remain open and the destination continues to operate normally.”

“The hotel sector is operating as usual, and there is no impact on travelers,” the diplomat reported, referring to the recent decision by some international hotel chains to wind down their management operations in Cuban destinations.

The announcements issued in recent weeks reflect business decisions made by the companies themselves and are a response to the complex economic situation resulting, among other factors, from the tightening of unilateral coercive measures and the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island, Aguilera explained.

He added that the relationship maintained for decades with international groups such as Meliá, Iberostar, Barceló, and other companies allowed the country to develop management capabilities and train highly qualified professionals to ensure the operational continuity of the facilities.

“Cuba has acquired the necessary know-how to guarantee the service standards and quality that characterize our destination. Hotels remain open and are operating under national brands, with no interruptions in service,” the counselor told the agency.

“Cuba continues to welcome its visitors with the hospitality, warmth, and safety that have always set it apart. That commitment remains intact,” he emphasized.

For the Argentine market—the main source of tourists from the Southern Cone to Cuba—the message is clear: “The destination remains open, operational, and committed to continuing to strengthen commercial ties with agencies, tour operators, and airlines in the region.”

The counselor also added that the current economic reform process being driven by the country also opens up new prospects for foreign participation in the tourism sector.

The recent measures announced by the Cuban government include opportunities for investment projects, hotel management models, and real estate developments related to tourism.

“We are convinced that new opportunities will attract other international operators interested in participating in the development of Cuban tourism. We will ensure the continuity of services and continue to improve their quality, and Cuba will remain a leading destination for tourism in the Caribbean,” Aguilera told Prensa Latina.
