Turpial Airlines inaugurates Caracas-Varadero flight

91 passengers arrived on board the aircraft, including representatives from the tour operator Gira

The first Turpial Airlines flight connecting Caracas with the beach resort of Varadero arrived this Monday afternoon at the Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport, located in the Cuban province of Matanzas.


According to a report by Prensa Latina, 91 passengers arrived on board the aircraft. Meanwhile, the Cubatur Travel Agency stated on its social media that they welcomed representatives from the tour operator Gira and its FAM GTN Gira Group.


This flight marks the beginning of operations for Turpial, the main airline in the Venezuelan state of Carabobo, with the Matanzas airport. The flight will operate weekly, arriving every Monday, according to Yamir Miyares, the airport’s general operations coordinator.


A few days ago, sources familiar with the new offer explained exclusively to Sol de Cuba that travelers will have the option of booking packages for three, five, or seven nights, and that the return to Venezuela can be arranged through the airline’s other Cuba-bound flights.


Turpial operates three additional weekly flights to the archipelago, one to Santiago de Cuba, a province considered the cultural and historical center of the eastern part of the country, and two direct flights to Havana.


Founded in 2016, wiith operations launching in 2017, the airline is approaching a decade of experience in its mission to offer quality air transportation services. Its first international flight was to Panama City, while flights to Cuba began three years ago.


Its current fleet includes the Virgen de la Chinita (Boeing 737-400), the Virgen de Coromoto (Boeing 737-400), and the Virgen del Valle (Boeing 737-400).


Recently, executives from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism presented the country’s attractions in several Venezuelan cities.


In May, the two nations signed agreements at the culmination of the 7th Meeting of Tourism Ministers of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) to promote the development of the sector.


Meanwhile, Rutaca Airlines recently inaugurated operations between Valencia (Carabobo) and Havana with two weekly flights.
