Numerous tourists currently vacationing in Cuba have stressed they are enjoying their stay, highlighting the stability of supplies at hotel resorts and calling for solidarity with the island amidst the energy blockade imposed by the United States government.
Measures were adopted in the Caribbean nation during the fall to ensure a smooth winter peak season for the tourism sector. These measures covered issues such as the supply of fuel, food, and essential products to maintain high standards.
Among other elements, the hotel infrastructure maintains energy autonomy through the use of independent power systems and emergency generators, with a strictly reserved and secure fuel supply for continuous operations.
What are tourists currently vacationing in Cuba saying?
From the Hotel Playa Coco, a wonderful beach resort in Jardines del Rey, ideal for families, large groups, events, weddings and honeymoons, a guest tells us: “This is amazing here! The sun is shining, it’s not as hot as usual, but we can still live with it, once you get the sunscreen on. The rooms are great. The food is incredible. The staff here always keeping you busy, always on your toes. There are all kinds of activities at the pool and down at the beach. You can walk along the beach and get out in the sunshine. Come on down and have fun!”
Another traveler, who has been in the country for more than a week, responding to the concerns of others interested in the destination, points out: “I just want to tell everybody that there is no shortage of food or electricity. The people are great. Please support Cuba. Come.”
Staying at the 5-star Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo Hotel in the Jardines del Rey archipelago, a young woman enjoying a perfect nature getaway explains that this “is a very nice place. It’s a little chilly, but next week it’s going to be better. I have food, we have water, we have entertainment, a show…,” she added.
The typical and international cuisine, activities, comfort and personalized service, as well as the stability of resources and the availability of hotel supplies, are among the elements most highlighted by tourists currently visiting the country.
Cienfuegos and Santa Clara guarantee memorable moments
From Cienfuegos, tourist Jim mentioned that guests at hotels with very low occupancy rates have been moved to central hotels. “For the most part, I think what they are trying to do is give everyone an upgrade, so they’re trying to upgrade into the higher end hotels which should mean that people don’t mind the shift. But yes, as of yesterday we’ve heard that they are starting to move some of those clients into centralised hotels in those beach areas in an effort to try and reduce the footprint in some of those hotels in regards to cooking fuel and electricity and so on and so forth. So, they’re going to probably start to darken some of those resorts in an effort to try and save some fuel. So, just you know, again, a shift in the island trying to deal with the fuel pressures that are being placed on the island right now.”
Jim praised the people of the island he has known for 30 years, noting, “They’re very resilient people, so they’re trying to be resilient and deal with the shortages.”
