The Canadian market recorded an increase in tourism flows to Cuba in July 2025 compared to previous years. The close of the month shows that 50,083 visitors from that country crossed the borders of the Caribbean archipelago, equivalent to a 112.34% increase compared to 2024, reports Lessner Gómez, Cuban Tourism counsellor in the northern nation, from Toronto.
Although data from the National Statistics and Information Office indicate that the overall figure for the first seven months of the year (478,388) is still below the 622,204 visitors from the same previous period, this increase is in line with the efforts of the Cuban tourism industry to recover its main market.

“That means a recovery this summer, thanks to all the efforts being made in Cuba, throughout our destination, in all our hotels. The quality of our tourist facilities has improved, guest satisfaction is very positive, and this has led to a recovery of great confidence when it comes to selling the destination,” says Gómez.
The representative of the Ministry of Tourism believes that, “The most interesting thing is that the figures are very similar to those of 2019.”

Gómez estimates that a good winter season can be expected with the Canadian market, as “a demonstration of the confidence it has in our tourist destination, the sun, the beaches, our culture, and above all, our people.”
He also emphasizes the continued interest of repeat customers returning to the Caribbean country.
In recent months, social media and other media outlets have reported on the presence of executives from Cuban and foreign hotel chains such as Meliá, Muthus, and Blau in several Canadian cities to present product updates to tour operators, travel agents, and airlines that market the tourist attractions of the Cuban archipelago.
