Promoting Cuba as a destination for events and incentives, attracting new venues, and promoting the best spaces on the island for these types of attractions is the objective of Cuba’s participation in the IBTM Americas Fair, Xonia Beltrán, Cuba’s Tourism counsellor in Mexico, told Sol de Cuba.

To date, meetings have been held with delegations from Honduras, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and the United States, in which the certainty that Cuba is a destination that offers unique experiences beyond sun and beach tourism has been shared.

Among the nation’s exceptional venues for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism are the Plaza América Convention Center, which also hosts its own events such as ExpoBodas Habana, Varadero Gourmet, Fiestas Patrias Habana-Varadero, the 10th Ibero-American Rural Tourism Meeting, the 1st Historical Heritage Tourism event “Leales al Patrimonio”, the International Havana Fair (FIHAV), and events planned for 2026 such as Universidad, the Cigar Festival, the Salsa Festival, Turnat, FitCuba, Experiences and Traditions; and more.

“It’s an excellent opportunity to network and establish alliances with Meeting Tourism associations and participating Mexican states: Mexico City, San Luis Potosí, Morelos, Guanajuato, Baja California, among others with which we have made contact,” explained Beltrán.

The Cuban delegation to IBTM Americas 2025 includes representatives from the travel agencies Ecotur and Cubasol, the Palco Group, Blue Diamond, Muthu Hoteles MG, Havanatur, Mexican tour operators specializing in our destination, and the magazines Buen Viaje a Cuba and EVENTIS.

During the first day of work, information was provided on the development of sustainable tourism projects in several Cuban hotels, an activity led by the country’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. The Cuban Art Factory was also announced as nominated for an international award, according to Buen Viaje a Cuba magazine’s website.

IBTM Americas is organized by RX, a global leader in building businesses and connections for individuals, communities, and organizations.
