More than 100 national and international participants from Mexico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic will attend the second edition of Expobodas, an event organized by the Cubatur Travel Agency.

Scheduled to take place from September 4 to 6 at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, the event seeks to “inaugurate a new era in Cuban tourism with destination weddings,” according to Cubatur Director General Diana Beatriz Olivera Rodríguez, speaking at a press conference.

A report by the Cuban News Agency indicates that one of the new features will be the presentation of opportunities for nautical weddings, in partnership with Marinas Marlin. This wish can be fulfilled on a catamaran on the open sea, traveling to a point on a beach, or having the wedding under the sea, depending on the choice of the interested parties.

Aimed at tour operators, specialized agencies, service companies, and other professionals linked to this segment, the event will feature some 60 national exhibitors and Mónica Restrepo, director general of the Forever Wedding Summit (a renowned venue for Spanish-speaking wedding professionals), who will share her experience in destination weddings.

The ACN adds that this event will include organizers from the central region of the country, from Matanzas and Varadero. The event will include a familiarization program for hotel facilities in the capital and the resort city on the Hicacos Peninsula, venues where weddings are typically held, with the unique opportunity to visit Cayo Blanco.

“This is an elite segment, with many details, involving many players, from suppliers and legal consultancies. As we enter this world, we are seeing the importance of everything, from the press to the suppliers themselves, to the need for training,” explained Olivera Rodríguez.

The event’s program includes lectures on these ceremonies, product presentations, exchange opportunities, and tours in Havana and Varadero.

The director of Cubatur noted that, according to statistics, the Americas alone, as a wedding destination, generates $50 billion in a year, hence the importance, as each wedding of this type can be valued at around $28,000, depending on the bride and groom’s choices, Prensa Latina added.
