Tourism remains a national priority, with all resort operations functioning normally and securely for the 2025/2026 winter season, the Cuba Tourist Board in Toronto assured, responding to concerns about recent measures adopted on the island to maximize energy efficiency.
In keeping with its commitment to offering the pristine beaches, warm climate, and first-class hospitality that Canadians have relied on for decades, the Ministry of Tourism “took proactive measures throughout the fall to ensure a seamless winter peak season. Supplies of fuel, food, and essential goods were secured well in advance through strategic reserves and the approval of new importing companies,” it stated.
The innovative marketing alliances forged with wholesalers and the ways in which the private sector has strengthened the supply chain were also highlighted.
To guarantee an uninterrupted guest experience, Cuba’s hotel infrastructure maintains complete energy autonomy. All major tourist resorts are equipped with independent power systems and emergency generators, with a strictly reserved and secure fuel supply for their continuous operation, the statement details.
Likewise, air operations remain fully guaranteed, including the launch of several new routes from the Atlantic region of Canada:
• Moncton: Varadero, Cayo Coco and Holguín
* Fredericton: Cayo Coco and Santa Clara
• Halifax: Santa Clara
Gihana Galindo, director of the Cuba Tourist Board in Toronto, noted that “Tourism operations are progressing normally, with all services functioning as usual in resort areas. We are incredibly grateful to our valued travel partners and the Canadian public for their continued support. The positive feedback from returning visitors is the driving force behind our double-digit growth.”
During the first quarter of the winter season (November 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026), arrivals from Canada increased by 15% year-over-year, representing an increase of more than 30,000 additional visitors compared to the same period of the previous year, solidifying the Canadian market as the leading source of tourism to Cuba.
