Gibara’s Hoteles Encanto (“Charming Hotels,” Cubanacan hotel brand) embody the poetry of the town, where architectural and cultural heritage is transformed into a tourist experience.

The city, home to the International Poor Film Festival founded by filmmaker Humberto Solás, maintains a strong connection with art, film and bohemian life. Therefore, these hotels welcome tourists as well as creators, travelers and dreamers seeking more than just sun and sand.

A small city of cinema

Gibara is located on the northern coast of Holguín province, in eastern Cuba. It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the north. Founded on January 16, 1817, its name comes from the indigenous word Jibá.

The small town boasts a rich history and unique culture, along with a beautiful and lush landscape, exquisite architectural sites, and a perfectly planned urban layout of its houses, streets and parks.

This “White Town,” though small, possesses a peculiar charm. The contrast between its architectural heritage, treasured for two centuries, its exuberant landscapes, and the strong sense of belonging and cultural roots of its people, captivates all who visit, compelling them to return time and again to, in the words of Admiral Christopher Columbus, “the most beautiful land that human eyes have ever seen.”

Hotel E Ordoño

The Hotel E Ordoño is located in this town, 32km from the city of Holguín, where history, architecture, urban planning and nature blend together, resulting in one of the most remarkable 19th-century Cuban historical centers. Declared a national monument, it is home to captivating legends and stories dating back to its founding in 1817. Housed in the town’s tallest building, dating from 1927 and meticulously restored, the Hotel Ordoño is a jewel of local architecture. Here, exceptional heritage values, modern comfort, and personalized service come together in an ideal environment for those seeking relaxation and memorable experiences.

The hotel features 27 spacious rooms, including 14 standard rooms, 9 double rooms, three junior suites, and a luxurious suite that served as the building’s original bedroom. All rooms feature air conditioning, a bathroom with hairdryer and makeup mirror, in-room telephone, satellite TV, minibar, and safe (free of charge). They offer views of the city, rooftops, and the tranquil Gibara Bay, which the Admiral called the River of Seas. The hotel is not wheelchair accessible.
