The “blue beach” is once again recognized in 2025 with multiple awards and recognitions. The International Ranking of the Best Beaches placed the seaside segment of the Meliá Las Antillas resort in second place, a selection that highlights it as the best in the Caribbean.

The Meliá Internacional Hotel strip in this tourist destination also stood out in this list. In 2025, the “enclave beaches” category was evaluated for the first time, which recognizes the perfect harmony between tourism development and natural conservation.

This result recognized Cuba as a leader in coastal sustainability and responsible tourism.

The International Training Center for Beach Management and Certification considers more than 60 indicators, including recreational quality, coastal protection systems, environmental conservation, sanitation standards, accessibility, scenic value, tourism services, resilience to storms and erosion, ecosystem status, species and habitats, among other variables.

Varadero beach also ranked sixth worldwide in the 2025 Travelers’ Choice Awards, which recognize excellence in travel at the highest level.”Varadero has everything you’d expect from a picture-perfect beach: Golden sand, turquoise-blue water, and stunning sunsets. Hop on a catamaran, go fishing, play a round of beach volleyball, walk along the shore—there’s lots to do.

Or just kick back and enjoy the beautiful, natural scenery (you really can’t go wrong),” the site states.Along this stretch of coastline, the “Environmental Beach Recognition” strategy is being promoted. This program involves hotel facilities in a local monitoring system based on tourism services and safety, information, as well as environmental requirements and education.Currently, 24 beachfronts have this endorsement, while the remaining facilities are working to obtain it, with the support of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism’s Training Center and the Coastal Management Directorate.

The strategy seeks to ensure sustainability and excellence in the management of Varadero’s beaches.

Cuba’s most internationally recognized beach resort has been ranked among the top 10 best beaches in the world on Trip Advisor’s travel lists for a decade. In 2023, based on the methodology and criteria of the International Center for Training in Beach Management and Certification (CIFPLAYAS), experts from ten countries selected the beach area near the Meliá Internacional Varadero hotel as the best in Latin America. This stretch achieved this recognition
