Canadian Chantal Mathewsky’s smile created an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation as we began our brief conversation at the Hotel Iberostar Origin Daiquirí. Public Relations specialist Marianela León González’s interpretation overcame the language barrier.

Chantal immediately expressed her pleasure on her sixth stay at this hotel located on Cayo Guillermo, in the Jardines del Rey archipelago, in the northern province of Ciego de Ávila.

Her preference is evident, and she makes it clear from the first minutes of the conversation. “I’ve already booked to return next November, with a friend,” she says, motivated by the well-preserved surroundings, the architecture and comfort offered by the different spaces, the excellent gastronomic offers, and the beautiful beaches and pools.

The hotel captivated her from the first time she saw it, passing by; she later got recommendations from some colleagues. Persuaded by personal impressions and suggestions, she decided to book her stay for an experience that proved both satisfactory and long-lasting.

“I previously visited luxurious and impressive hotels in Varadero, where the beach is good and wide; however, I prefer the Iberostar Origin Daiquirí, with lower buildings (three levels) and surrounded by diverse and preserved flora and fauna.”

Chantal identifies with sustainability practices aimed at replacing single-use plastics with biodegradable or reusable containers and efficient management of waste generated during operations in different areas, which includes the placement of marked waste bins according to their type. Circular economy initiatives and intentions to encourage more environmentally responsible behavior are evident.

“There is also a sign on the beach urging people to protect the environment and not to extract shells, snails, and other elements that serve specific functions in the coastal area. The hotel contributes to educating and correcting these negative attitudes,” she says.

The friendliness of the staff is another reason why she would recommend this facility to her friends, with excellent offers and services at the buffet and à la carte restaurants, as well as multiple recreational options, including the nearby kitesurfing facilities.

“I can’t say much about the nightlife,” she apologized, because she tends to go to bed early, after dinner, and wakes up in the early hours of the morning to enjoy the excellent views of the beach, pool, and gardens from her balcony—another pleasure that compels her to frequently make the trip between Montreal and Cayo Guillermo.
