A new edition of the Big Game Trolling Fishing Tournament will take place from October 14 to 19 in the tropical paradise known as Jardines del Rey, an archipelago located off the northern coast of Cuba.

For the practice of deep sea fishing, both professionals and amateurs, as well as those connected to the world of sport fishing, will gather in this beautiful destination for the event organized by Marinas Marlin, a platform belonging to the Cubasol Business Group. A team of highly qualified professionals will be responsible for advising clients on the best hotels, tours, excursions, and events related to the island’s oceans.

In the case of Big Game Trolling, visitors are invited to explore the waters of the northern area of Cayos Coco and Cayos Guillermo, in a competition area that extends up to five miles north-northeast of both islets. During the month of October, it will be possible to catch species such as the sailfish, a type of billfish, since their movement around the keys increases during the last months of the year.

Generally speaking, among the species most sought after by anglers in Jardines del Rey are marlin, known for their size and strength; swordfish, famous for their speed; dorado, with its vibrant color and delicious flavor; and tuna, although the seasons for catching each vary.

To participate in the tournament, participants are recommended to wear light clothing, a swimsuit, sunglasses, caps or hats, tennis shoes, sandals, or comfortable shoes, and carry a camera. It is also strongly recommended to bring enough water.

Deep-sea fishing seasons:

  • Blue marlin: July to September on the northwestern shelf and September to November on the northeastern shelf.
  • Emperor: Late February to early April mainly on the northwestern shelf.
  • Wahoo: Late October to early December.
  • Marlin: Late May to early July.
  • Sierra and sawfish: July mainly on the northwestern shelf.
  • Bonito, albacore, and yellowfin tuna: These can be caught year-round, although early spring (May) is more feasible.
