● October 10. A foundational milestone for the nation. In 1868, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes—the “Father of the Homeland”—launched the wars of independence and granted freedom to the enslaved people at the La Demajagua sugar mill (now a National Monument) in present-day Granma Province.

● October 18. Cuban Cuisine Day. Designated as National Cultural Heritage in 2019, Cuban cuisine is the heir to Indigenous, Spanish, African and Asian traditions. It combines diverse flavors and aromas into a mosaic of dishes that vary by region, making the culinary experience a journey across the country in itself.o

● October 20. Cuban Culture Day. On this day in 1868, the city of Bayamo heard the first performance of “La Bayamesa,” a composition that would later become the National Anthem.

Havanatur hosts the inaugural edition of this event aimed at the LGBTQ+ community and its allies, featuring cultural, musical and leisure activities in Havana and Varadero. 32nd Festival of Ibero-American Culture in Holguín. October 24–30. The city will host artistic, literary and community activities dedicated to Ibero-American cultural diversity. An opportunity to discover eastern Cuba beyond its beaches.
