Cuba shines at TripAdvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards

Tripadvisor revealed the winners of its prestigious 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards, where Cuba stood out within the Caribbean region with significant recognition for both its hotels and tourism.

In the hotel category, the Iberostar Grand Trinidad, located in the colonial city of Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus, was included in the exclusive Top 1% worldwide under the Best of the Best category. This award positions it as the only Cuban hotel with such a distinction in 2026, recognizing its excellent luxury service, colonial architecture and strategic location in the historic heart of the “Caribbean’s Museum City.”

At the destination level, the island solidified its position as the third most popular country in the Caribbean according to traveler votes, standing out for its cultural and heritage diversity. Havana was recognized as a destination that blends historic architecture with contemporary culture, while Trinidad confirmed its value as a colonial city declared a World Heritage Site.

Regarding beaches, two of Cuba’s most iconic resorts, Varadero (Matanzas) and Cayo Coco (Ciego de Ávila), received mentions in the regional Caribbean ranking. Varadero was praised for its expansive white sands and tourist services, while Cayo Coco stood out for its pristine natural environment and all-inclusive resorts that attract thousands of visitors each year.

These awards reinforce Cuba’s position as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the region, combining history, culture, nature and top-tier hospitality. Havana and Trinidad continue to solidify their positions as cultural and heritage destinations, while their beaches are a magnet for those seeking unique seaside experiences.
