Cuba is attending the 6th “Let’s Travel!” International Tourism Forum in Moscow with the aim of diversifying its tourism markets and strengthening ties with Russia, one of the main sources of visitors to the island in recent years. The Cuban delegation, led by First Deputy Minister of Tourism Jorge Alberto García Domínguez, inaugurated its pavilion at the event, running June 10 through 14 at the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy (VDNKh).
This forum, recognized as one of the most important platforms for international tourism dialogue, brings together more than 30 countries, including Venezuela, Nicaragua, Belarus, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Uganda, as well as Sri Lanka, which is participating for the first time with a national pavilion.
During the opening ceremony, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko toured the Cuban stand, where he greeted Deputy Minister García, Cuban Ambassador to Moscow Enrique Orta González, and Tourism Counselor Cristina León. Chernyshenko emphasized the active collaboration between the two countries to recover and strengthen bilateral tourism.
During the forum, the Cuban delegation will hold meetings with tour operators, travel agencies and Russian authorities to advance key issues such as visa liberalization, improved air connectivity, and the creation of new direct routes between Cuba and Russia, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s website.
The event organizers value the broad international representation as a factor that boosts inbound and outbound tourism, fosters ties and strengthens trade cooperation. In this context, Cuba reiterates its commitment to positioning itself as a competitive and safe destination for Russian travelers, promoting its tourism offerings based on sun, beach, culture and nature options.
The event is also an opportunity to showcase not only popular destinations, but also lesser-known places, tourism products, and unique experiences that reflect the cultural heritage and diversity of regions in both Russia and the participating countries.
