hree flight options are available to fulfill the desire of Canadians to travel to Cuba for vacation or medical tourism, although direct flights between the two countries are not currently available.
Cuba Medical Tourism, founded in 2017 to report on medical tourism services and the healthcare system on the Caribbean island, specified that those interested in traveling from Canada can access the following options:
• Via Miami (American Airlines) to Havana, Santa Clara, Camagüey, and Holguín.
• Via Panama City (Copa Airlines) to Havana.
• Via Mexico City (Aeroméxico) to Havana.
The platform emphasizes the importance of applying for the electronic visa on the website at least 72 hours before the flight, as well as completing the D’Viajeros form before departing.
It adds that hotels and transfers are available through Hola Sun Holidays and that, even with limitations in fuel availability in the country, it is still possible to travel to other parts of the island and stay in hotels in cities outside of Havana.
Viazul buses continue to operate between cities. The schedule has been adjusted to the current situation, but it is possible to book bus travel securely online through the website, preferably in advance.
Canadians can also book all-inclusive hotel packages through Hola Sun, which guarantee transportation to their hotel in Varadero or other areas of Cuba.
To book, you can contact Hola Sun directly by email at sales@holasunholidays.ca or groups@holasunholidays.ca, or by phone at 905.882.0136 ext. 434.
A healing island
Cuban healthcare services for tourists are highly regarded, offering quality medical care by highly trained specialists at affordable prices in a safe destination.
In addition, comprehensive treatment programs are available with specialists who are fluent in English, French and Spanish. Hospitals and treatment centers are accredited by Bureau Veritas of France and the ONN (National Observatory of Nutrition).
On its website, Cuba Medical Tourism explains that since 2017 they have helped people who, lacking a satisfactory solution to their health problem, received the required medical attention on the island.
