Cuba is participating in the ANATO 2026 Tourism Showcase, running February 25 through 27 in Bogotá, with the aim of strengthening its tourism offerings and establishing strategic alliances in the Latin American market. This is one of the most important regional events in the sector in for connecting destinations, hotels and agencies.

“We are here to show that Cuba is truly alive, its facilities are open,” commented Yamily Aldama, Cuban deputy Tourism minister, speaking exclusively to Sol de Cuba from Colombia.

She added that it is true that adjustments have had to be made following the departure of some airlines as a consequence of the ongoing aggression of the United States government against Cuba.

“Of course, all of this has meant that some airlines have had to stop flying, not due to a lack of customer interest, but because they have nowhere to refuel, as is the case with Russia,” she explained.
In the statement, the deputy minister highlighted the expressions of interest in this Caribbean destination. “The love for

Cuba is impressive; the booth has been full the whole time, every table occupied. Even the press is very interested in learning more, because with so much misinformation, of course, there is uncertainty, and well, we have conveyed all of this to them.”

Aldama also reported that prior to the start of this edition of Anato, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) conducted a roadshow and a presentation on Cuba, which was attended by more than 200 travel agents.
“Through a direct connection with directors of Cuban hotels and foreign chains in Havana and Varadero, they were able to experience a real-time tour of their facilities and learn what was happening in Cuba.”
She also commented that new tour operators have expressed interest in marketing the tourism options that Cuba offers.

“The most impressive thing about everything that has happened is the passion and desire of all our tour operators to sell Cuba. Yesterday was the first day of the Fair, and every single one of them came up and said, ‘I love Cuba,’ and that has truly impressed me,” she said.

She also noted that in discussions with counterparts and the public, they have referred to the activities taking place in the country to commemorate the centennial of the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, given the interest shown. “We are conveying a great deal of confidence that there is security in Cuba despite everything that is being said. I think it has been a major blow to the media war,” she concluded.
