The 5-star Sierra Cristal hotel in Cuba will be managed by Cosmos Hotel Group, Russia’s largest hotel operator, as announced by Russian media outlets during the Tourism Territories Forum (FTT-2025), held at the Luzhniki Olympic Complex in Moscow.
During the event, held from October 15 to 16, the management agreement for the hotel was signed with Gaviota Tourism Group S.A., which will operate under the name Sierra Cristal by Cosmos Hotels. This makes it the first international resort managed by the company, stated Alexander Biba, president of Cosmos Hotel Group.
“International projects are part of Cosmos Hotel Group’s long-term strategy. We are currently evaluating promising markets and negotiating new hotel and urban complexes that will operate under Cosmos management and franchise agreements,” stated Biba, who has extensive experience in the hotel sector, having served as general manager of various resorts and hotel groups (Novotel Resort Krasnaya Polyana, the +960 hotel group, and the Sirius Hotels chain).
Located 25km from the city of Antilla, in the province of Holguín, and 114 lkm from Frank País International Airport, the Sierra Cristal, built in 2024, aims to redefine the concept of luxury tourism in the eastern part of the island. Its location offers views of the Sierra Cristal, home to Pico Cristal, the highest peak in the province.
Its opening is scheduled for December 2025, with 640 rooms, modern design, and excellent comfort, according to the specialized portal Travel and Tour World, the leading B2B digital media platform.
