Havana is preparing to welcome dancers and music lovers from around the world to the 18th World Meeting of Casino and Salsa Dancers. Called “Baila en Cuba” (Dance in Cuba), this event, organized by the Paradiso cultural tourism agency, will take place from November 16 to 21 and promises to be a vibrant celebration of the rhythms that have given life to son, casino, and salsa on the island.
For six days, the Cuban capital will become the heart of salsa and Afro-Cuban rhythms, offering participants a unique experience in the birthplace of these musical genres.
A packed program of activities
As part of the program, attendees will enjoy classes taught by renowned Cuban teachers and dancers, who will teach various styles, including son, rumba, mambo, and cha-cha-cha, as well as specialized workshops on folkloric dances such as yoruba and guaguancó.
The event will not only be limited to classes but will also include evening shows in the iconic Salón Rosado “Benny Moré” at La Tropical, where participants will enjoy live performances by some of the most iconic groups of Cuban popular music. Theme nights, accompanied by live music and DJ sets, will offer a festive atmosphere that will thrill all attendees.
For those wishing to showcase their talent, dance competitions will be held. Couples will compete, evaluating their technique and connection, while the ruedas de casino, made up of teams of up to five couples, will be judged on their technique and choreographic elements. Participants must be over 18 years of age and have an advanced level of Cuban folkloric dance, and submit a short video showcasing their skills.
Prizes and recognitions
The winners of the competition will receive the “Bailar en Casa del Trompo” Trophy and a credential that will allow them to participate in the next edition of “Baila en Cuba” in 2026. A jury composed of distinguished Cuban teachers and dancers will be in charge of evaluating the performances and awarding the prizes.
With this edition, “Baila en Cuba” reaffirms itself as an unmissable event for music and dance enthusiasts, offering a platform to celebrate Cuba’s rich cultural heritage and its influence on the world of dance. Havana awaits with open arms all those who wish to immerse themselves in this unforgettable experience.
